USPS’s mission is to provide the nation with reliable, affordable, universal mail service. Addressing services are pivotal to the success of meeting this mission. In 2021, 4.3% of the total 129 billion mail volume had undeliverable-as-addressed (UAA) issues, which adversely affected mail operations. Providing robust, modern, and reliable tools/services that are easy to use and highly available to help mailers improve the address quality is an important USPS need in combating the UAA challenges. Another factor in delivering successful, reliable, and affordable mail service is the ability to plan, optimize, and dynamically adopt better routing. Geospatial technologies serve as the foundation that provides actionable data to help USPS achieve a high level of optimization.
