Job Overview

 

GovCIO is seeking a candidate for the position of Business Process Model Engineer to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). In this role you will support the VA by applying your deep understanding of industry trends and findings and apply this state-of-the-art knowledge in devising strategies, evaluations, and redesigns to avoid or modify products that have negative impacts.

The ideal candidate will have experience in Data Process Flow and Performance Measures Process Modeling.  With a focus on Advanced Analytics and Information Lifecycle modeling, you will collaborate with product owners, developers, and designers to provide the best value to our customers. You will internally help improve software engineering practices for the entire team.

 

Responsibilities

  • Business Process Modeling Support for Data Warehouse/Marts Integration and Reference Architecture analytics, ML Modeling and Business Intelligence Measures and Visualizations
  • Ensure successful integration of architectural artifacts and content that yield “value add” business architecture perspectives
  • Use current and innovative methodologies that include industry best practices
  • Provide briefing recommendations promoting new, improved and/or undiscovered referential architecture data use. Recommendations will include assessments of stakeholders and the perspectives of “consumers” for the use of VHA Architecture content to inform decisions, support analysis and report understandings deemed useful to customers and leadership, as well as, internal to BA for continued architecture maturity
  • Innovative and creative use of Business Process Models to conceptualize, design, document and mature existing and new Business Process and Data Flow Models
  • Inform and Mock-Up yes)
  • Perform assessments of architecture stakeholders and customers
  • Inform perspectives of “Consumers” for the use of VHA Architecture content (how can/should customers best leverage the data)
  • Develop Findings with Suggestions regarding all architecture content
  • Inform continued architecture and content maturity

 

Qualifications

 

Bachelor’s with 8+ years (or commensurate experience)

 

Must have experience in creating and applying simulation models that allow manipulation of variables as defined by customer using a variety of modeling and simulation tools.  Knowledge of software modeling and device characterization, hard and soft modeling development, parametric testing, and measurement automation.  Must have experience in the construction of simulations to customer specifications.

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, Science, Technology, and related fields. On a case-by-case basis, work experience may be considered in lieu of a STEM degree for highly qualified candidates.

  • Must reside and work within the U.S.

  • Experience in mapping/analyzing Data Flows and Data Lifecycles
  • Familiarization with data flow and Process modeling tools such as Visio, Cameo, LucidCharts, Modello or equivalent.
  • Experience in ETL/ELT approaches and integration processes
  • Experience in Data Flow Modeling, Process Modeling.
  • Experience with slide deck creations and hosting thought groups (Mind Maps, SWOT and TOWS Analysis
  • Experience in MS Office Suite
  • Must be strong in the following areas as this is a client-facing role:
    • Verbal communication and collaboration.
    • Consultation, Stakeholder Interviews and Challenge Mindset
    • Interpersonal skills such as active listening, constructive feedback, teamwork, building relationship and trust with both teammates and the customer.
    • Troubleshooting, especially root cause analysis and defect isolation.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, Science, Technology, and related fields or 8 years of relevant experience may be substituted for education
  • 10 or more years’ experience in Process or Data Modeling.
  • Experience with conceptual, logical, and physical database modeling.
  • Thought leadership and to-be-modeling

  • Life-cycle Modelling Language (LML)
  • Subject-oriented business process management (S-BPM)
  • Unified modelling language diagrams (UML)
  • Decision Diagrams/Flow chart technique

  • Role Activity/Interactions Diagrams (Sequence)
  • Gantt Charts
  • Integrated definition for function modelling (IDEF)
  • ML Model Design Documents and Modeling Flows
  • Gap analysis and continuous improvement
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (ability to query data)
  • Strong written communication and documentation experience.
  • VA, VHA or federal contracting experience.

Compensation Range (In compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act for remote or positions located in CO)

$95,000 - $108,000
