Responsibilities

Uses standard computer-aided design (CAD) digitizing techniques and skills. Digitizes, edits, and revises engineering drawings of components, parts, circuits, structures, and/or assemblies. Makes engineering computations, and mathematical calculations, determines scales, and prepares or revises specifications. May prepare pattern generating or artwork tapes for mask fabrication and operates plotters to obtain circuit drawings.

  • Uses computer-assisted design/drafting (CAD) equipment and software to develop designs.
  • Performs calculations needed to solve scaling, dimensioning, and cross-section interpolations.
  • Sketches rough layout of machine and computes angles, weights, surface areas, dimensions, radii, clearances, tolerances, leverages, and location of holes.
  • Makes final sketch of proposed drawing, checking dimensions of parts, materials to be used, the relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to the whole structure or project.
  • Sets up and maintains an organized file system for production drawings.
  • Maintains As-Built diagrams and drawings of Audio-Visual systems; revises all diagrams as required.
  • Creates new diagrams as required/requested. Sets up and maintains an organized file system for production drawings.
  • Create visual representations of conceptual designs.
  • Converting PDF drawings into DWG.
  • Conducts preliminary and final drawing meetings.
  • Verify Bill of Materials data furnished by staff to ensure information is incorporated in the drawing package such as make, models, and quantities.
  • Maintain drawing records and version control.
  • Create rack elevations.
  • Build and maintain drawing indexes.
  • Build and maintain drawing templates for a variety of components.
  • Experience in interpreting field notes and creating centralized, distributed, cascaded split designs.
  • Drawing package prepare, print, align, cut, and stack D-size drawings.
  • Understand and transfer a Cable Running List (CRL) into the drawing package.
  • Device port and cable connection focused drawings.
  • The candidate will also be responsible for assisting with proposal development drawings and renderings.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s with 2 – 5 years (or commensurate experience)
  • CAD Operator and Designer Certificate, Credit Certificate.
  • Ability to attain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance.
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Autodesk AutoCAD.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Server file organization.
  • Create and revise CADD drawings in 2D and 3D formats.
  • Utilize AutoCAD effectively to create well-organized drawing files.
  • Use industry terminology and standards to create technical drawings, and create a portfolio of technical drawings using industry-standard software with accurate dimensioning and details.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience working with AutoCAD or other 2D or 3D drawing software.
  • Experience with Blueprint reading.
  • Maintain Plotter / Printer / Scanner devices (ink, paper, cutting tools).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; must capture, understand, and articulate designs transferred into drawings.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience (or possess a certificate of training).
  • Knowledge and experience in creating CAD templates and designs.
  • A high level of proficiency in computer operations including AutoCAD is desired.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with great attention to detail.
  • Read, learn, interpret, and apply requirements pertaining to the job.
  • Work effectively in a team environment; can also work independently.
  • Proven ability to communicate with clients and project teams.
  • Knowledge of researching various code requirements, BICSI standards, researching device specifications, configuration management concepts, and CAD-related work packages.
