Communications Specialist (Remote) #3352

Overview

GovCIO is currently hiring for a Communications Specialist to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This position is fully remote.

Responsibilities

The candidate will be responsible for a variety of tasks across a vast and dynamic IT organization. Must be a self-starter who can quickly understand new assignments, conduct research, provide relevant content, offer solutions, and is adaptable. Responsible for client interactions and ensuring coordination and desired outcomes are accomplished. The environment is dynamic, and the client needs are often evolving. Flexibility and forward-thinking views are important for success.

• Prepares executive level briefing material using PowerPoint and explains content to VA leadership
• Collects, tracks, coordinates related work, updates, and closes out action items
• Facilitates meetings with VA OIT leadership
• Gathers information through research, statistical reports, and interviews, and organizes data into meaningful content for a wide range of tasks and presentations
• Conducts research on a variety of IT initiatives
• Creates a variety of documentation and informational material including instructional, SOPs, knowledge articles, white papers, etc.
• Organizes and maintains content on the MS Teams platform

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or a related scientific or technical discipline is required.
• 10 years’ experience; 8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education
• Proficient in use of Microsoft tools – MS Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SharePoint, and Outlook
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work equally well on a self-paced basis as well as in a collaborative, team-oriented setting
• Excellent creative, analytical, and organizational skills
• Strong attention to detail and excellent follow-through
• Experience working within distributed teams and remote environments
• Must be adaptable, curious, creative, and have a willingness to learn
• Demonstrated experience as a presentation creator
• Must be a self-starter with eye for quality control
• Must be able to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience within the VA OIT
• Experience using Jira to capture project tasks, risks, and progress

Posted Pay Range

The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Pay range: $75,000 - $85,000 Annually
