GovCIO is looking for a Database Administrator to join our team to provide design recommendations, configuration, and operations and maintenance (O&M) support of AWS/Oracle projects. The Database Administrator will be responsible to support implementation and integration of a new database/data analysis program. The successful candidate will work closely with a small, self-organizing team that performs all aspects of design, development, troubleshooting, and (O&M) collaborating internally and with clients.
Responsibilities
The Database Administrator will support design and development of and will perform O&M activities for a new financial database and analytics system in accordance with established Agile processes for system development lifecycle activities. This will include, but not be limited to, documentation, software upgrades/patching, API and hosting infrastructure, etc.
- Develop, maintain, evaluate, and document administration of database tools and strategies.
- Assist with design and development of systems (databases) that can scale for future requirements.
- Design and implement data models and data access layers for new product functionality.
- Assist with development of end-to-end solutions, including design and develop custom connectors.
- Participate in analysis and design sessions with stakeholders to ensure comprehensive understanding of needs.
- Work closely with small team and stakeholders to develop requirements.
- Provide feedback and guidance on design and integration of new system.
- Provides advice and guidance regarding the system in terms of business, data, application, and technology.
- Provide expertise and implement all stages and aspects of the SDLC, including design, development, installation, and O&M of a new, complex IT system.
- Work with developers and stakeholders to resolve system issues, such as system outages, bugs, etc.
- Recommend improvements to existing processes and technologies.
- Identify and leverage marketplace solutions as appropriate.
- Provide support with issue identification, tracking, analysis, and resolution; testing; documentation; maintenance of database; and user account administration.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or Associate’s and 2+ additional years of experience or commensurate experience).
Required Skills and Experience –
- 2-5 years of experience as a Database Administrator.
- Experience with AWS and Oracle.
- Experience with Agile/SAFe delivery.
- Oracle Certified Associate certification or equivalent.
- Expertise in requirements gathering, software evaluation, data modeling, developing standards and methodologies, and business process re-engineering.
- Experience delivering AWS and Oracle solutions that comply with all federal standards such as security, section 508.
- Possess knowledge of best practices for IT and data.
- Able to work independently.
- Experience providing consulting services in solving complex information technology issues.
- Possess excellent communication, analytical, and writing skills.
- Ability to work in a collaborative, remote environment.
- Must be meticulous and highly organized.
- Must be eligible for Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS Cloud certification or equivalent.
- Agile/SAFe or other related certification(s).
- Bachelor’s degree in business, or Computer Science, or Engineering.
- Experience with a broad range of development languages, frameworks, tools, concepts, and patterns.
- Current or recent (last two years) clearance (Public Trust).
- Experience in the federal sector.
- Experience with financial data analysis.
- Experience with MySQL, Python, and JavaScript.
