Overview

GovCIO is currently seeking a dynamic Human Resources Associate to support and partner with our HR Business Partners and growing employee population that are dispersed throughout the United States. The HR Associate is responsible for partnering with business operations to ensure a complete understanding of business objectives and resolve HR issues. You will provide strategic partnership and integration to help line managers make informed overarching decisions. Our ideal candidate has experience with HR procedures and can juggle various tasks in a timely manner. Ultimately, you will gain HR experience, and have opportunities for growth in a fast-paced work environment by supporting and improving all HR functions. Our HR Associate position requires excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially. This is a remote position with the ideal candidate being located in the DC/MD/VA region, and available for occasional onsite meetings in the Fairfax, VA corporate office.

Responsibilities

Helps to support and partner with HR Business Partners to provide interpretation of Human Resources policies, support business operations to ensure a complete understanding of business needs and objectives and resolve HR issues to include employee relations, labor relations, HRIS, benefits, compensation, and employee services. Serves as a HR liaison for most of the following areas: succession planning, talent management, labor relations, employment, employee relations, compensation, benefits, EEO, and/or training and development. Collects and analyzes HR data, and then makes recommendations to management. Processes paperwork for functional area(s) according to established procedures. Prepares internal employee communications regarding such matters as compensation, benefits, or company policies.

  • Provide HR guidance to support the overall mission and HR service delivery for a complex organization
  • Develop strong working relationships with all levels of management and employees in order to effectively address employee relations matters, to include conflict resolution, guiding through performance coaching and counseling, and implementing disciplinary actions
  • Help to resolve complex employee relations issues and address grievances supporting and partnering HR Business Partners
  • Provide coaching and performance management support to include coaching managers through progressive discipline process writing and reviewing performance improvement plans and letters of warning. Assist with delivery
  • Work closely with HR Business Partners to support management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale and increase productivity and retention
  • Provide and help interpret HR policy guidance to management and employees
  • Assist with administering various human resources plans and programs, such as employee relations, compensation, benefits, training and development, and the performance management process
  • May handle or assist with employee relations investigations and counseling
  • Assist with implementing or revising policies and procedures in accordance with government regulations, company culture, and best practices

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelors in Human Resources or Related field with 2 - 5 years (or commensurate experience), to include 2+ years of employee relations experience (i.e., investigations, corrective actions, performance improvement, advising managers)
  • Knowledge in the functional areas of human resources to include, benefits, leave of absences, employee relations, HRIS Systems, payroll, on-boarding, off-boarding, recruitment, and talent management
  • Strong MS Office experience (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) familiarity with MS SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ability to prioritize, multitask, time management and organizational skills, in a fast paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal in person and phone, and email and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to provide a high level of customer service, must be approachable and helpful
  • Knowledge of employment law
  • Must be able to think big-picture and be resourceful in creating solutions
  • Understanding of HR functions and best practices
  • Work experience as an HR Associate or relevant role


Preferred Skills and Experience

  • PHR or SPHR Certification

Posted Pay Range

 

The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Pay range: $60,000 - $70,000 Annually
