The Configurations Manager’s role is to analyze changes of product design to determine the effect on the end product design and function and determines and prepares documentation necessary for change.  They will develop and maintain software configuration management tools to support configuration identification, control, reporting, and delivery of both internally developed and externally purchased commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software and hardware products. Performs configuration management and release engineering tasks to ensure new software product operating parameters are documented, comply with standard hardware configurations, and are logistically sustainable. Designs, develops, automates, and maintains productivity tools using programming, database or scripting languages to improve software modeling and development. Designs and implements build procedures that are used to support software product development and use. May train software developers in the use of configuration management tools and the implementation of software quality standards. May be involved in product release management.  Other responsibilities include:

  • Providing Deployment and Release Engineering support for all development efforts across the program
  • Supporting the management and control of hardware and software configurations and baselines
  • Support development teams with building, baselining, and releasing software using established software CM procedures.
  • Ensuring complete traceability of hardware and software baseline changes through documented CM process
  • Controlling, maintaining, and storing software work products
  • Defining, implementing, and improving hardware and software CM processes and procedures
  • Providing CM process training to the program team
  • Providing CM input to software and hardware change requests
  • Managing configuration identification, configuration control, configuration status accounting, data management, product release and delivery, and configuration audits
  • May authorize the release of product into production or development.
  • Managing the day-to-day activities of the process, including establishing priorities and work assignments
  • Tracking compliance to policies and procedures and resolving / escalating any compliance issues
  • Interfacing with all program teams, engineering disciplines, and program management
  • Work closely with IT leadership to ensure solution is in alignment with organizational goals and requirements.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing tasks as needed.

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI Eligibility
  • 9+ years’ experience performing the following:
    • Experience developing and implementation CM principles, processes, and training (including configuration control, identification, data management, product release and delivery, and configuration audits)
    • Experience working with CM requirements and standards such as CMMI, ISO 9000, and ITIL
    • Experience providing consultation in support of information systems.
    • Demonstrated experience building positive working relationships with cross-functional technical teams.
    • Experience executing complex IT projects with complex business and technical impact.
    • Experience collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure that requirements are addressed.
  • High School Diploma
  • DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II (Sec+CE, SSCP, CND, CCNA Security, etc)

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience and certified in using ServiceNow.
  • Experience with DoD deployed communications.
  • Experience with DoD NIPR, SIPR and JWICS Networks.
  • DoD 8570.01-M IASAE II (CASP+CE, CISSP, CSSLP) compliance.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with successful problem-solving skills and ability to coordinate project activities.
  • Ability to work with multiple customers and adjust priorities effectively in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to manage tasks/projects with ambitious milestones in high pressure circumstances.
  • Ability to relate to and collaborate across multiple functional disciplines and levels and across a geographically and culturally diverse team environment.
  • Ability to think through problems and visualize solutions.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of IT and outside the organization.
  • Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources.
  • A self-starter able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment.
  • Dependable and flexible when necessary.
