Overview


GovCIO is currently hiring a Journeyman Systems Deployment Engineer. This position will be located in Irving, TX.

Responsibilities

Gathers information concerning the capabilities of Company products; investigates the technical capabilities of Company products and competing equipment and/or solutions; stays abreast of developments in hardware and software. Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and ensures requirements comply through formal verification methods. Translates high level product development strategies into network and system requirement specifications and works with other engineering disciplines to develop lower level detailed implementation requirements. Establishes and coordinates development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the network and system development. Designs interfaces and brings network and system elements together so they work as a whole. Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures. Customer liaison and support for business development activities and to understand and shape requirements.

1. Coordinates the planning, design, and installation of equipment, using knowledge of engineering and programming as well as sophisticated instruments and computers
2. Participates in system conceptual design and documentation of the design concepts.
3. Installs all new hardware, systems, and software for networks.
4. Designs, creates, and builds network services, equipment and devices.
5. Generates system level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test procedures.
6. Monitors system performance and implements performance tuning.
7. Reviews test plans/procedures and ensures they meet the objectives of the contractual requirements and participates in the testing process to validate requirements.

 

Program Specific Responsibilities

  • Support the deployment of network infrastructure and commodities in support of components, such as, but not limited to: routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, WAN optimizers, Uninterrupted Power, Encryptors, Power Distribution Units, wireless and mobile network kits containing multi-disciplined technologies
  • Remove/ decommission network infrastructure and commodities in support of components such as, but not limited to: routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, WAN optimizers, Uninterrupted Power, Encryptors, Power Distribution Units, wireless and mobile network kits containing multi-disciplined technologies
  • Support the development of wireless site surveys pre and post-deployment
  • Deploy physical access control systems
  • Support the installation of software, such as but not limited to: Cisco IOS/NOS, Riverbed RIOS, Big IP to ensure devices meet compliance
  • Assist in planning for the future strategy of networks and provide budgetary information as needed.
  • Embrace and support the implementation of systems and technologies utilizing automated and orchestrated delivery methodologies
  • Locally perform root-cause analysis, identify, and perform corrective actions
  • Interface with Local Exchange Carriers and telecom providers regarding installation, testing and troubleshooting during deployments
  • Work with Engineering to identify, diagnose and resolve complex problems with data infrastructure as the new deployment occurs, and provide documentation/updates to the knowledge database
  • Support the implementation of network solutions in Field Sites of various sizes and degrees of complexity.
  • Assist in the creation of wireless survey reports
  • Maintain ongoing updates to documentation related to wired and wireless network layout
  • Assist in the implementation of Wireless Access Points
  • Assist in the implementation of new Wi-Fi networks and wired Cisco, Meraki networks

    • Cisco Nexus Platform

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's with 0-2 years (or commensurate experience)
  • Strong critical thinking and troubleshooting skills.
  •  

Desired Qualifications

  • CCNA or other Cisco network certifications.
  • CompTIA Network+ certification.
  • Clearance Required: Public Trust

    Must be able to obtain and hold a Public Trust Clearance.

Posted Pay Range

 

The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Pay range: $70,000 - $75,000 Annually
