Responsibilities
Gathers information concerning the capabilities of Company products; investigates the technical capabilities of Company products and competing equipment and/or solutions; stays abreast of developments in hardware and software. Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and ensures requirements comply through formal verification methods. Translates high level product development strategies into network and system requirement specifications and works with other engineering disciplines to develop lower-level detailed implementation requirements. Establishes and coordinates development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the overall network and system development. Designs interfaces and brings network and system elements together, so they work as a whole. Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures. Customer liaison and support for business development activities and to understand and shape requirements.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for daily activities including but not limited to:
- Work in a fast-paced environment, alongside a team of highly specialized Engineers providing engineering and implementations action for integration, modernization, and/or new installs for partner nations and allies in the SOUTHERN & EUCOM command AOR.
- Familiarity with network equipment, cabling, and installation in datacenter environments.
- Provide operation and integration support for a multi-vendor infrastructure that includes various routers and switches, multiple vendor firewalls, multiple vendor servers.
- Aiding senior engineers and the team with routing and switching support with intermediate understanding of designing, testing, and implementing dynamic routing protocols (both IGP and EGP), core understanding of layer two technologies and concepts, and familiarity with any of the major vendor CLI (Cisco IoS, JunOS, PanOS) environments.
- Be comfortable with the configuration, installation, and management of routers, switches, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, virtual local area networks (VLANs) multi-protocol label switching (MPLS), IP routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), IP multicast and quality of service (QoS) under the direction and guidance of senior engineers and network architects.
- Ensuring proper routing protocols are being applied to optimize the end-to-end network performance from the Local Area Network (LAN) through a Wide Area Network (WAN), to a Campus Area Network (CAN), to a Storage Area Network (SAN), or data center.
- Assist the government/host nation customer with identifying any derived design objectives, technical specifications, performance requirements, and interoperability specifications to ensure the system design will meet stakeholder end-to-end requirements.
- Document networks and changes to systems and all required checklists for use within the configuration baseline.
- Familiarity with network drawing and productivity tools (Visio, Lucid, AutoCad, ect) a must.
- Must have a valid US Passport and be prepared for international travel up to 40% at customer locations in SOUTHCOM & EUCOM AOR.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment to resolve issues and meet deadlines
Qualifications:
- High School with 9+ years (or commensurate experience).
- Relevant BS Degree and +5 years of prior relevant experience or HS Diploma + 9 years of prior relevant experience. Specific experience, education and training may be considered in lieu of degree. Military background within Signal, Communications, of Information Technology MOS’s will be heavily desired.
- Active Secret clearance.
- Active Passport.
- Current DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification (CompTIA Security+CE, CCNA Security, CySA+, etc.).
- Current CCNP Enterprise (ENCORE) certification (CCNA Candidates will be considered with verifiable work experience).
- This role requires a Covid-19 Vaccination as one of the Basic Qualifications. You will be asked about your vaccination status if you are the selected candidate.
Other Desired Qualifications:
- In lieu of CCNA/CCNP: JNCDA/JNCIA, PCCET/PCNSE
- CCNP Security or CCNP Service Provider (SPCORE) a plus
Required Skills and experience:
- Fluent speaker in both Spanish and English
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact and engage with associated across multiple locations.
- Knowledge of multi-area OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, and MPLS environments.
- Experience setting up IPSec VPNs, GRE Tunnels, and DMVPN architecture.
- Experience with L2 and L3 protocols over Campus/WAN networks.
- Experience with multitiered hub-and-spoke network design.
