Platform Engineer (Remote) #3054

Overview

GovCIO is looking for a Platform Engineer to join our Health PMO team. The candidate should have experience with a civil agency, preferably Veterans Affairs. This is a remote working opportunity. This individual is expected to have a proven track record of working remotely with minimal direction.  Office hours are M-F 8am-5pm ET.

Responsibilities

Our team is responsible for supporting biomedical research in the VA utilizing a secure high-performance computing environment.  The prospective candidate(s) will be joining a highly motivated team who sustain Linux and Windows environments with hundreds of machines, both on prem and in the Government Cloud. As VA continues to upload genomic data on to the platform, the massive amounts of large data sets lead to platform scaling issues.  The incoming Architects and Engineers must have an eye towards cloud expansion - more data means more problems with running large experiments with massive data set comparisons.

Additionally, flexibility and forward-thinking views are important for success.

• Build and manage end-to-end highly secure and highly available platform and
  Infrastructure (On-premises, Cloud, Hybrid, Multi-Cloud) including data platform,
  middleware, and application platform.
• Collaborate with Application, Data and Security Architects to incorporate security,
  data, and application requirements.
• Build on-premises IaaS, PaaS, and Data as Service platforms.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in computer science with 12+ years applicable experience
• In-depth build knowledge of platform, middleware, network design, server and
  storage design in a highly scalable, fault-tolerant model is a must.
• Platform and Infrastructure implementation experience in on-premises, Cloud (AWS,
  Azure), Hybrid cloud
• Experience in building GPU's, HPC clusters and dynamic assignment of compute in
  pipelines for genomics processing
• Knowledge of building IaaS, and PaaS components in cloud (private and public)
  including DB, file and object systems
• Knowledge of infrastructure for distributed data systems and AI workloads including
  analysis pipelines and neural network models for genomics workloads
• DevSecOps experience and extensive knowledge of K8
• Extensive working and build knowledge of cloud infrastructure (VPC, N/W, IAM, DB,
  K8, Autoscaling, MulL-zone, mulL-region, Cloud PaaS, Pub-Sub, Search, Caching, Sys.
  Mgmt., web services, Sockets, RPC, REST API, VPC peering, sub-nets, Cloud network
  connect, VPN, Load Balancing & Auto Scaling, Clustering, Jenkins, and DevOps,
  Monitoring and Audit).
• Knowledge of IaC (Infrastructure as Code), Terraform

Preferred Skills and Experience

• MLOPs experience is a plus.

Posted Pay Range

The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Pay range: $150,000 - $160,000 Annually
