Health PMO is looking for a Deputy Project Manager with software architecture experience to join our Joint Longitudinal Viewer team. The candidate should have experience with a civil agency, preferably Veterans Affairs.  The environment is dynamic and client needs are often evolving.  As such, thought leadership, problem solving, rapid learning, and carrying the innovative mindset needed to lead our clients through conceptualization, strategic planning, and execution is important.  Additionally, flexibility and forward-thinking views are important for success. 

Responsibilities

Creates integrated project plans for contract deliverables and new products in development projects. Manages a project team comprised of a multidisciplinary staff. Reviews, manages and controls status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports. Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives. Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with team members and line managers. Generally reports to a Program Manager.

1. Manages the direction of a project through the design, implementation, and testing in accordance with project objectives.
2. Defines requirements and plans project lifecycle deployment.
3. Supervises professional and technical support personnel performing in their regular disciplines.
4. Schedules tasks and coordinates with various team members to accomplish the results.
5. Manages the integration of vendor tasks and tracks and reviews vendor deliverables.
6. Ensures adherence to quality standards and reviews project deliverables.
7. Conducts project meetings and is responsible for project tracking, analysis and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Education Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related fields, Engineering or related scientific or technical disciplines

  • Years of Experience Required: 15+ plus education or 25+ without education requirement

Required Skills and Experience

  • Understand the client’s business issues and data challenges; perform gap analysis and recommend solutions
  • Coordinate with cross-discipline team members to make sure that all parties are on track with project requirements, deadlines, and schedules.
  • Meet with project managers or stakeholders to identify and resolve issues.
  • Create project deliverables, including artifacts and ensuring that they adhere to quality standards.
  • Use source data to evaluate the effectiveness of projects and business processes.
  • Analyze multiple development teams’ schedules for accuracy, critical path, variance analysis, high-level activities, and milestones for inclusion on the weekly Gantt Charts.
  • Conduct research, analyze information needs, and perform analysis to support the delivery of relevant artifacts including business process diagrams, reports, and presentations as directed by the Project Manager
  • Develop, gather, and disseminate technical information and documentation among both business and technical customers in support of the Project Manager
  • Establish effective project communication plans and ensuring their execution.
  • Verify data and information and analyze it to suit the direction of a project
  • Track, forecast and report on project progress including metrics and challenges
  • Work with all team members to analyze changes in requirements and recommend the most expedient solutions in a timely manner.
  • Leverage excellent writing skills to translate complicated issues from multiple information sources into a clear point of view, and create a compelling, concise, and well-written narrative
  • Leverage excellent presentation development skills to synthesize complex information into succinct visualizations using PowerPoint and work with graphics designers to develop advanced visualizations.
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office suite is a must, with experience in SharePoint and Teams.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and supervision

  • Experience working and managing large teams in remote environments

  • Create and review software architecture design documents.
  • Monitor, track, and analyze service requests, firewall requests, and incident tickets.
  • Identify, analyze, and track project risks.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • VA experience preferred
  • PM-related certifications such as PMP, CSM, and ITIL are preferred

  • Experience with VistA or MUMPS applications is highly desired, but not required

  • Experience with the patch and software maintenance release process is highly desired, but not required

  • Experience with tools like Jira and its use to manage projects using the Agile methodology is preferred

  • Experience with Jira is a plus.
  • Experience on software projects utilizing cloud infrastructure, such as Amazon Web Services, is a plus.

Compensation Range (In compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act for remote or positions located in CO)

$110,000 to $125,000
