Responsibilities

As a technical writer, you will be part of a team that creates, edits, manages, and facilitates documentation. This is a technical hands-on role working with multiple clients using a variety of tools. You will support multiple programs like AI (artificial intelligence), robotics engineering, and cloud services that are at various stages of development and production.

Our team is responsible for supporting both our customer and corporate data environments within the Federal Government. You will produce timely and accurate documentation using your unique approach and skills.

  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to gather information and create technical documentation for products, services, and systems.
  • Interact with customers to understand their requirements and ensure that technical documentation meets their needs.
  • Analyze complex technical information and translate it into clear, concise, and accurate documentation.
  • Create and maintain technical documents including SOPs (standard operating procedures), ISDs (instructional system designs), COOPs (continuity of operations, CONOPS (concept of operations), IPs (implementation plans), impact analyses, service catalogs, and templates.
  • Utilize various types of software to write and edit documents that are able to be understood and used by a broad audience of technical professionals.
  • Assist in creating presentations, documents, tables, graphics, and proofreading for high lever senior staff and project managers.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and ensure deliverables are made on time.
  • Perform QA (quality assurance) related functions and proofreading to deliver accurate products to the client.

Qualifications

  • High School with 6 – 9 years (or commensurate experience)
  • Active Secret clearance
  • DoD 8570 Certification IAT level 2 (Sec+ preferred) 

Required Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years as a technical writer within the DoD environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in an IT related or technical organization.
  • Expert in using Microsoft Professional Suite and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical skills to understand complex technical information and translate it into clear and concise documentation.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Detail oriented with a focus on accuracy and completeness.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience working in an Agile environment and use of Jira software.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Adobe FrameMaker.
  • Familiar with MILSPEC, USGPO, ITIL, and FISMA/NIST writing styles.
  • Project, data, and publication management.

Compensation Range (In compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act for remote or positions located in CO)
