Responsibilities:

 

The Security Operations Engineer shall provide information security expertise to our Federal Government client. Also, as a minimum, shall be responsible for:

  • Participating in Information Security working groups (Government sponsored or private) to obtain the latest security and regulatory guidance (including applicable privacy laws and statutes);
  • Conduct security certification activities in support of our Federal Government clients’ systems, sites and networks.
  • Supporting the implementation of Information Security guidelines and policies per agency direction.

Qualifications:

  • Assist with day-to-day aspects of agency security environment
  • Understand and enforce agency IT and security policies.
  • Review audit logs
  • Work with other agency jurisdictions as requested by senior leadership.
  • Identifying, implementing, and assessing system security controls.
  • Actively contribute to A&A efforts and assess the security impact of system changes
  • Actively participate with and guide agency leaders to coordinate and manage system changes.
  • Perform discovery and vulnerability scans, and identify and direct remediation steps and activities
  • Support other ISSOs within the agency

Technical Requirements:

  • Experience implementing Government and/or private industry information security, communications-computer systems security and industrial security policies and procedures;
  • Knowledge of developing standardized certification and accreditation processes in accordance with security industry policy and maintain established accreditation baselines.
  • Knowledge of firewall configuration and operation, as well as VPN (both site-to-site and remote access)
  • Web proxy with virus/malware detection
  • Email antispam and virus.  Will also need to be able to configure the mail aspects not just the security pieces.
  • Unix/Linux scripting and scanning
  • Networking, basic routing and switching
  • Advise and communicate with senior leadership with ease.

Training, Education and Certifications:   

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, plus 3 years’ experience or equivalent
  • Security+
