Overview

The VA NSOC defends, manages, and monitors the network operating status and cyber security posture of the VA by providing the day-to-day management, operation and configuration of the enterprise network infrastructure, Internet Gateways, the delivery of enterprise security systems and services, the monitoring and reporting of security incidents, the conduct of threat and vulnerability analysis, the validation of adequate security controls within the enterprise and the full range of functions across the spectrum of activities relating to incident management, incident response and enterprise network management.

 

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a coordinating liaison among customer management, operations teams, customer requestors, and vendor partner technical support personnel.
  • Participates in and occasionally leads conference calls with stakeholders of change requests.
  • Reviews change requests to ensure that all required documents, administrative information, and artifacts are included, complete, and accurate. Recommends action to the change requestor to remediate any deficiencies in these areas.
  • Screens change requests for technical accuracy to prevent unimplementable changes from being sent to the operations teams for technical review.
  • Sends change requests to appropriate operations teams for technical review. Collects comments from reviewers and returns the request to the change requestor if corrections are needed. Forwards technically and administratively accurate change requests to change approvers.
  • Provides support and information to change requestors during change request processes.
  • Supports operations teams and their processes by providing complete and accurate information about requested changes.
  • Performs follow-up actions on approved and implemented change requests to ensure all actions taken were documented correctly. Closes out completed change requests.
  • Identifies opportunities for change management process improvements and reports them to the Change Manager.
  • Records and reports change request statistics weekly to the Change Manager.
  • Works in an office or remote environment 40 hours per week, 8 hours per day, 5 days per week.
  • Provides oversight for programs for the protection of classified information as well as propriety information.
  • Prepares, sends, and receives visitor certifications.
  • Investigates losses and security violations and recommends corrective actions.
  • Manages the continuing eligibility program for employees.
  • Periodically inspects the facility to ensure physical security measures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's with 2 - 5 years (or commensurate experience) of relevant security experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Networking, Cybersecurity, or Information Systems Management.
  • Industry certifications such as ITILv4 Foundations, CAPM, PMP, CCNA R/S, CCDA, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, AWS Cloud Practitioner, and Microsoft Azure Fundamentals.
  • Experience with Service Now, Change Gear, and Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of FISMA guidelines.
  • Familiarization with NIST SP 800-53 rev.5 Security and Privacy Controls for Information Systems and Organizations
  • Clearance Required: Ability to maintain a Public Trust Clearance

Posted Pay Range

 

The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Pay range: $53,770 - $86,030 Annually
