Overview

GovCIO is looking for a Senior Technical Writer/Program Analyst to work on a technical support services team supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Information Security, Business Integration and Outcome Services division. The ideal candidate has experience incorporating document management and technical writing best practices as well as proficient experience working with SharePoint and Microsoft Teams.

 

This job will be located in the DC/MD/VA area with occasional work onsite.

 

The total estimated number of trips in support of  program related meetings for this effort is estimated at six (6) trips per year. Anticipated locations include the following, estimated at three (3) days in duration each:

 

  1. Austin, TX
  2. Chicago, IL
  3. Bay Pines, FL

Responsibilities

  • Maintain process documentation; review, edit, standardize, or make changes to material prepared by other writers; create new documentation for changed processes, and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, or content to.
  • Develop, integrate, and edit instructional text and graphics for interactive presentations for the agency website or other documentation as required by the Government.
  • Provide monthly PowerPoint slide(s) or Microsoft Word documentation processes and tool recommendations that improve BIOS’ business solution services management approach.
  • Develop and maintain a weekly Management Status PowerPoint slide deck(s) and Management Reports which shall include but not be limited to the status of knowledge management work group, portfolio support requests, communications status and management briefing materials.
  • Maintain BIOS’ Accomplishment tool, which acts as a central repository for all BIOS portfolios to capture completed major accomplishments within the Period of Performance.
  • Develop, and update on an annual basis, a standard operating procedure (SOP) for BIOS Business Solution Services operations.
  • Support BIOS meetings by attending via Microsoft Teams and utilizing the recording functions within Teams to capture meeting minutes, action items and follow up tasks.
  • Coordinate with the BIOS Communication Team and other BIOS teams to maintain and update on an annual basis Management Responsible, Accountable, Consulted and Inform (RACI) charts that identifies and defines roles and responsibilities between Communications and Knowledge Management teams and other portfolios within BIOS.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

 

  • BS/BA degree and 5-8 years of experience or MS/MA degree 4-6 with years of professional experience in technical requirements writing (or commensurate experience)
  • Knowledge and experience w/ SharePoint, Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and Microsoft Teams
  • Exceptional communication skills with an emphasis on documentation and analysis
  • Ability to write, document, and maintain Policies, Processes, and Procedures as related to business units’ responsibilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to take initiative in a dynamic, collaborative, and client-facing environment
  • Ability to effectively communicate with senior government clients, participate in and lead discussions, confidently discuss project status, and propose relevant and effective solutions
  • Ability to provide technical writing services to support development and modification of the business unit SharePoint sites and Microsoft Teams Channels and other documentation as required

Posted Pay Range

 

The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Pay range: $80,000 - $89,000 Annually
