Responsibilities

Builds and codes applications and/or modules using languages such as C++, visual basic, ABAP, JAVA, XTML, etc. Provides patches and upgrades to existing systems. Involved in planning of system and development deployment as well as responsible for meeting software compliance standards. May design graphical user interface (GUI) to meet the specific needs of users. Prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls. May build add-on modules using application program language.

1. Designs and codes applications following specifications using the appropriate tools
2. Maintains and modifies existing software applications.
3. Analyzes detailed systems factors, including input and output requirements, information flow, hardware and software requirements, and alternative methods of problem resolution.
4. Performs modifications to and maintenance of operational programs and procedures.
5. Participates in code reviews to represent reviewed work for adherence to standards and specifications.
6. Writes or revises program documentation, operations documentation and user guides in accordance with standards.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s with 8+ years (or commensurate experience)

Required Skills and Experience

BS degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or Physics.

 

IAT Level 1 Certification is a minimum requirement.

 

Working towards the following certifications within one and a half year after assuming duties: Professional Software Engineering Master (PSEM)/ Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP) or with COR approval complete a vendor/platform specific certification (e.g., Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD), Microsoft Certified Applications Developer (MCAD), Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA), Sun Certified Professional (SCP), Red Hat Certification Program (RHCP), CISCO Certified Network Professional (CCNP), CISCO Certified Design Professional (CCDP), Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), etc.)

 

Ten (10) years of experience in design, development, commissioning, and test of real-time transmitter control systems, to include: Technology Analysis and Assessment, Design Definition, Development of Systems Specifications, System Analysis, Systems Architecture, Systems/Equipment Integration, Test & Evaluation Criteria, and Logistics support of C4ISR requirements.

 

Five (5) years of technical experience in design, development, commissioning, and test of real-time control systems for Navy FVLF/LF high powered radio broadcast transmitters, to include demonstrated experience in design, commissioning, and test of real-time control systems for at least three Navy FVLF/LF radio transmitters with electronic controls.

 

Demonstrated experience and proficiency in at least four of the six following programming languages: RSLogix, Intellution iFix, C/C++, LabView, Visual Basic, and VHDL.
