Responsibilities

  • Assign, edit, and produce content for products, services, and various projects
  • Facilitate executive-level virtual meetings; prepare meeting agendas, capture meeting minutes, and track outcomes and action items.
  • Work with product managers to develop product roadmaps, create business value propositions and business metrics, and provide data for product scorecard reporting.
  • Manage action items and data calls for VA’s Digital Experience Product Line and Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO).
  • Provide communications and promotional support through the development of presentations, talking points, web content, social media, newsletters, and Congressional responses.
  • Consolidate information from project subject matter experts and from personal knowledge to develop complete drafts of communication products and information request responses, and present to clients for review and approval.
  • Develop executive-level communication products (PowerPoint briefings, executive summaries, talking points, Excel-based data calls, etc.) for standard reporting requirements and in response to formal project information requests (i.e. data calls) for VA leadership, Congress, and external stakeholders, following required VA and OIT style guidance and 508 compliance requirements.
  • Support project compliance activities by updating required dashboards; writing, compiling, and/or editing project artifacts; preparing for milestone reviews; and advising VA customers on compliance requirements and upcoming actions.
  • Create work instructions for the DE PMO Support team’s recurring tasks, such as reporting releases and outages, distributing product daily summaries, and weekly status reporting.
  • Manage and maintain the information systems, dashboards, and document repositories (e.g. Microsoft SharePoint, Jira, GitHub, VA PARS, etc.) that are used to store data and documents on project scope, schedule, cost, risks, and performance.
  • Maintain a knowledge management repository and historical record of communication responses and artifacts, which is continuously updated based on development activities and new business requirements

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience

 

    • A Bachelors Degree in Operations Research, Mathematics, Computer Science, Cost Accounting or related scientific or technical discipline. 
    • 8 years in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
    • Participation, as needed, on an Agile software development scrum teams
    • MS Teams and SharePoint Management
    • Experience working and navigating the VA
    • Experience with digital products, experience with IT products a plus
    • Ability to manage ambiguity and drive project to successful delivery
    • PMP certification a plus, but not required

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Technical Writing Experience – 5+ years
    • Consolidates information from project subject matter experts and from personal knowledge to develop complete drafts of communication products and information request responses, and present to clients for review and approval.
    • Develops executive-level communication products (PowerPoint briefings, executive summaries, talking points, Excel-based data calls, etc.).
    • Writes, compiles, and/or edits project artifacts
  • Project Management
    • Leverages planning tools to manage deliverables and execute towards milestones within VA needs
    • Drives organization and efficiency in work processes
    • Effective in decision making to select best opportunity weighed against alternatives
    • Knowledge of fundamental project management skills like risk management, problem resolution, project planning, etc.
    • Ensures compliance with the project management methodologies and the Project Management Office processes and standards
  • Relationship Building and Soft Skills –
    • Ability to coordinate with various stakeholders and manage competing interests
    • Adaptable and flexible to change especially in dynamic environments
    • Exhibits personal integrity to ensure everything we do centers Veterans’ needs and best interests
    • Strong communicator who communicates often with transparency and precision to drive projects forward
    • Ability to control project issues when conflict arises
    • Understands formal and informal organization structures

Compensation Range (In compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act for remote or positions located in CO)

$85,000 - $95,000
