Responsibilities

  • Participate in collaboration sessions with GovCIO leaders to understand program goals and support tasks.
  • Participate in stakeholder interviews to obtain key insights into communications, processes, and areas of opportunity. 
  • Take daily direction and receive professional coaching from senior-level GovCIO teammates/leads with an appropriate level of autonomy. 
  • Provide Emerging Technology Cohort program feedback pertaining to experience as a GovCIO intern that supports a government client. 
  • Participate in project team meetings such as project management reviews, risk assessment calls, defect management and troubleshooting sessions.
  • Contribute to research and gap analyses, helping determine strengths of current approaches and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining processes, tools, and resources, leveraging best practices.
  • Create and manage documentation and reports for projects.
  • Engage in agile processes and scrum ceremonies like sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily scrum.
  • Leverage writing skills to translate complicated issues from multiple information sources into a clear, compelling, concise, and well-written narrative.
  • Leverage presentation development skills to synthesize complex information into succinct visualizations using PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Engage in project team activities like requirements solicitation, software quality assurance, user acceptance testing and release and configuration management.

GovCIO is seeking an internship candidate for our Health Services Portfolio Technical Management and Strategic Solutioning  program. The candidate will fulfill the Project Analyst Intern role, supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Health Services Portfolio. The candidate will be exposed to technologies such as Cyber Security, Agile, DevSecOps, and Data Analytics across multiple disciplines within the IT industry. The candidate will participate on project teams supporting activities such as research and analysis, reporting, presentation design and delivery, customer engagement, and product management activities.

Qualifications

  • AA or 2 year technical school computer science, in electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline is required.  
OR
  • 4 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education
 
Required Skills and Experience

  • Expertise in creating and maintaining documents, and providing meeting support (e.g., scheduling, preparing materials, facilitating, documenting, and distributing minutes, etc.).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent skills working in MS Project, Word, and MS Excel, and building PowerPoint decks.
  • Strong analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships with other team and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to think “outside of the box” while communicating or dealing with a variety of situations.
  • Experience with a modern application programing language or scripting tool, such as Python, Java Script, or Pearl.
  • Basic understanding of system software (e.g., Linux, Windows Server, SQL Server). Ability to work independently and conduct research with minimal guidance and supervision.
  • Must work 20 to 29 hours weekly, during standard Eastern time zone office hours.

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • US Veteran applicants always welcome.
  • Familiarity with GitHub, JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint, and Teams a plus.
  • Experience in the project management methodology or experience operating in an agile environment is desirable but not required.
  • Experience or knowledge in Cybersecurity.
  • Experience within a Health IT environment is also a plus but not required.
  • Ability to obtain VA clearance.

Compensation Range (In compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act for remote or positions located in CO)
