GovCIO is looking for a Test Engineer with hands-on technical experience in modern, full-stack testing. Candidates with API and test automation experience are preferred, but deep understanding of testing strategies and approaches are more important than specific technologies. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with high self-learning skills, a solid team player with the ability to act independently. Candidates must have excellent writing and verbal skills.

 

With a focus on testing and quality, you will collaborate with developers and designers to provide the best value to our customers. You will internally help improve testing and QA practices for the entire team. GovCIO aims to transform government IT by delivering the technology-related innovation necessary to improve governmental operations every day. Quality assurance and test automation is part of that plan.

 

Responsibilities

  • Execute manual and automated tests on Linux instances in AWS Cloud.
  • Create automated front end tests using frameworks based on Selenium WebDriver using scripts written in languages such as JavaScript, Java, or C# (.Net Core).
  • Create and execute end-to-end, regression, and performance tests.
  • Create both positive and negative test scripts.
  • Develop and maintain test data in automated environments.
  • Manage test delivery, including Requirements Traceability Matrix, defect management, test execution, and test reports.
  • Test planning, design, execution, defect linking, and traceability to story/defect.
  • Validate content from XML, JSON, data bases and flat files using test scripts.
  • Validate data within relation databases using SQL queries.
  • Teach, learn, and perform in a high energy, agile environment with dynamic job responsibilities and priorities.
  • Collaborate with multiple teams in troubleshooting complex technical or non-technical issues.

Qualifications

  • 5 or more years overall software testing experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, Science, Technology, and related fields. On a case-by-case basis, work experience may be considered in lieu of a STEM degree for highly qualified candidates.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Must have an active IRS clearance or within 1-2 years. 
  • Must reside and work within the U.S.
    • U.S. Citizenship needed for GovCIO employees
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Test case management tools.
    • Refining user stories, especially the testability of acceptance criteria.
    • Functional Testing.
    • Writing test plans, creating QA processes, and being a thought leader in quality.
    • Automated testing frameworks (strategy, scripting, execution, and reporting).
    • Writing automated API (back-end) tests, especially REST.
    • Writing automated web (front-end) end-to-end tests.
    • Quickly developing and executing tests in an agile (Scrum) environment.
    • Writing SQL queries and scripts.
  • Solid understanding of test involvement in:
    • Requirement analysis
    • Scenario design, test case creation, test scripting
    • Agile estimation and planning

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Exposure to AWS environments, especially AWS GovCloud
  • Experience in accessibility compliance and testing; specifically, WCAG 2.0, 2.1, a11y, and Section 508.
  • Experience with Atlassian tools, specifically JIRA, Confluence, and Xray to manage documents and test artifacts/reporting.
  • Ability to pick up scripting languages and automated testing technologies quickly.
  • Written communication and documentation.
  • Verbal communication and collaboration.
  • Interpersonal skills such as active listening, constructive feedback, teamwork, building relationship and trust with both teammates and the customer.
  • Critical thinking, problem solving, and creative solutioning utilizing the full spectrum of testing (positive and negative cases; white, black, and gray box testing; boundary value analysis and equivalence partitioning; use case testing, etc.)
  • Root cause analysis and defect isolation.
  • Current agile testing approaches and patterns.
  • Sprint planning, user story refinement (grooming), defining/verifying acceptance criteria’s, definition of done, and design walkthroughs to inject quality early in the development life cycle.

Compensation Range (In compliance with Colorado's Equal Pay for Equal Work Act for remote or positions located in CO)
