  • Analyze requirements, design, implement, and maintain enterprise monitoring tools and the supporting infrastructure
  • Develop and implement custom SolarWinds dashboards and alerts to meet the requirements of the application teams, customers, and other support teams
  • Define, create, and maintain processes required to monitor production and development environments to ensure a proactive approach for addressing alerts or problems
  • Assist with planning and administering changes to the SolarWinds IT infrastructure management platform to ensure the application is effective – including coordinating adding /removing infrastructure into the monitoring tool, SolarWinds updates, upgrades, patching and module implementation
  • Set up custom thresholds and alerts in SolarWinds for each category of object on the network.
  • Create relevant groups and special fields for objects in SolarWinds to properly sort and categorize objects and alerts
  • Maintain the list of objects in SolarWinds using embedded tools, as well as custom scripts to collect information from the network, mitigating all changes to the node list
  • Analyze and interpret traffic and utilization of services on network connections
  • Create and modify SolarWinds user accounts with proper permissions
  • Update relevant fields in SolarWinds that need manual input (vendor, IT contact, application support contacts, business leads, warranties, etc.)
  • Fully document the current monitoring environment including diagrams, SOP documentation, and user guides
  • Provide on-call support as well as scheduling and attendance for maintenance windows on nights and weekends as needed
  • Work effectively collaborating with Enterprise Architects, OS engineers, and operation support teams to provide training, develop guidelines and serve as a subject matter expert for enterprise monitoring solutions
  • Willing to display teamwork and share information with team members and customers.
  • Support customer-wide network infrastructure to meet network requirements by monitoring performance and availability and tuning network infrastructure to meet SLAs for LAN, WAN, and Datacenter infrastructure
  • Define and maintain monitoring products and component standards for monitoring capabilities to deliver a flexible, scalable, secure, reliable, resilient, and cost-effective set of datacenter and cloud monitoring services
  • Identify and develop ways to improve and automate monitoring to gain operational efficiencies and improve responsiveness
  • Manage ITSM Tool tickets and service requests to ensure a resolution in a timely and efficient manner



Bachelor’s with 5 – 8 years (or commensurate experience)


Required Skills:

  • 4 years’ experience working in 1000+ user environments
  • 3+ years of experience in SolarWinds monitoring modules Experience with SolarWinds Orion configuration and management for NPM, SAM, WPM, IPAM, VNQM, VMAN modules.
  • 4+ years of experience on multiple OS platforms


Desired Skills:

  • Experience with SNMPv3 network management tools, security management tools, traffic analysis tools, including NetFlow and NetFlow collectors, network management tools, Cisco Prime Infrastructure, Cloud Watch, ServiceNow, MRTG, Fluke, SPAN
  • Ability to research solutions for various business needs and technical problems; this includes evaluating alternatives and providing recommendations
  • Excellent communication skills to explain technical information and requirements effectively to others both orally and written
  • Familiarity with principles and practices of system configuration and change management
