Responsibilities

Plans, develops, and implements technical product or system training programs for customers, and/or employees, and field support personnel. Technical training may include standard, repeatable modules, customized and new product modules. Obtains information from customer and technical organizations, engineering, software, and product requirements to prepare training programs; prepares lesson plans and training materials; designs product demonstrations; develops course content; determines methodology; and coordinates the development of training aids. Conducts training sessions, demonstrations, and develops criteria for evaluating effectiveness of training activities. Requires prior technical subject matter knowledge and experience. May administer tests. May include military trainers.

  • Confers with management, employees, and clients to gain knowledge of work situations requiring technical training and to better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulations, business initiatives and technologies.
  • Formulates teaching outline and determines instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings, and workshops.
  • Trainers are expected to have technical expertise.
  • Continuously revises lesson plans to ensure course material reflect product features, meet new training requirements and to keep technical information up to date.
  • Facilitates the execution of all training programs.
  • Monitors training costs to ensure budget is not exceeded and prepares budget reports to justify expenditures.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for:

  • SMEs perform analysis, requirements development, defines problems, develops, and recommends solutions, conducts evaluations, performs analytical work in support of systems and or organizations, and possesses specialized knowledge and expertise in the designated area. Provides strategic advice, technical guidance and expertise to program and project staff.  Consults with client to define need or problem, supervises studies and leads surveys to collect and analyze data to provide advice and recommend solution. 
  • Oversees and fully understands Training Specialists, who provide instruction in support of Joint Ballistic Missile Defense Training and Education Center (JBTEC) located at Peterson AFB, CO
  • Oversees and fully understands Admin Specialists, who provide administrative services in areas such as but not limited to data processing, scheduling, library maintenance, document preparation, resource management and other related administrative and clerical activities. Admin Specialists also serve as the primary interface with customer base to include Senior Combatant Command Staffs, Military Departments, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Other U.S. Government Agencies, and Foreign Partners and Allies.
  • Oversees and fully understands Security Specialists, who support the Site Security Manager and Information Systems Security Officer with facility security functions and requirements such as but not limited to visitor access and control, key and combination control, Portable Electronic Device control, classified document management (production, shipping, and destruction), security education and security checks
  • Supports curriculum development, curriculum maintenance, and the initial and sustainment training of JBTEC training specialists. Will train individuals and teams, often in a field environment, on all individual, common, and implied tasks.  Prepares training documents and services that are required to support classroom or equipment training.  Draws input from Test Engineers, Systems Analysts, Training Specialists, Logisticians, and the Government.  Maintains contact with appropriate service training and doctrine commands and agencies to ensure training meets the needs of the customer. 
  • Supports unit training and participates in Warfighter exercises, wargames, future concepts, capabilities, and programs. Plans, leads, and executes Mobile Training Team responsibilities for out of area training, and trains the courseware in the same manner as the resident courses. Modifies courseware designs additional courseware to support stakeholder requirements.
  • May be required to develop and instruct Orientation, Basic User, and Advanced International Simulation (ISim) ballistic missile defense system courses.
  • Shall develop and execute Distributed Learning (DL) and Blended Learning (BL) (must be experienced in the ADDIE process).
  • Plans, organizes, and teaches in a manner consistent with government and JBTEC standards.
  • Promotes and directs successful student learning by preparing classrooms and supports materials creating an atmosphere that encourages student involvement and participation.
  • Communicates effectively in both oral and written forms with students, government personnel and fellow JBTEC personnel.
  • Serves on and contributes to a variety of matrixed course development and project teams. When assigned, serve as a Course Manager and or Focused Area Manager developing and maintaining appropriate courseware.
  • Participates in quarterly instructor training to include providing enrichment briefings to other instructors.
  • Maintain certification and currency in all assigned training including but not limited to cyber security and network usage, restricted area escort procedures, anti-terrorist, and insider threat awareness. Harmoniously and effectively work with military and civilian students and personnel from all services and DOD organizations as well as other governmental agencies and appropriately cleared, designated foreign students.

Security Responsibilities

Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper marking and handling of all information and materials, in any form. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. All government and proprietary information will be accessed and stored electronically on company provided resources.  

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors with 8+ years (or commensurate experience)
  • DoD issued TS with SCI eligibility
  • SMEs will be required to be qualified through the JBTEC Instructor Training Program within six (6) months from start of performance. SMEs –failing to obtain required qualification may result in a negative task order performance evaluation.
  • SMEs must have documented instructor experience from a military service or civilian institution.
  • Experience in the fields of training, missile defense, and courseware development: ten (10) years plus strongly preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and SharePoint
  • Salary $105k annual
