Overview
GovCIO is hiring an experienced skilled C# / ASP.NET Application Engineer to maintain and enhance a C# ASP.NET web application with a SQL Server backend, SSIS packages, Active Directory integration, and SQL Server Agent scheduled jobs. This position is fully remote within the United States.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve ASP.NET (MVC/Web API/Web Forms) applications, ensuring seamless integration between front-end and back-end components
- Support SQL Server databases: queries, indexing, performance tuning
- Update and deploy SSIS packages
- Manage SQL Server Agent jobs and troubleshoot failures
- Design, query, and manage relational databases (SQL Server), including writing efficient T-SQL, stored procedures.
- Configure and support AD authentication and IIS settings.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and debug issues across the full application stack, from the UI down to the database and server layers
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including database administrators, system administrators, and security teams to design new features and troubleshoot issues
- Maintain documentation and follow secure coding practices
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following .NET coding standards and object-oriented design principles
- Optimize data models and database architectures to enhance performance and scalability
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to overall code quality and adherence to .NET best practices
- Stay current with updates to the .NET framework and the broader Microsoft development ecosystem, recommending improvements where relevant
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering with 12+ years of experience or commensurate professional experience
- Strong C# and ASP.NET experience
- Solid T‑SQL skills and SQL Server administration knowledge
- Hands‑on SSIS development and troubleshooting
- Experience with Active Directory and Windows Authentication. Able read / write to AD.
- SQL Server Agent job management
- Familiarity with IIS administration
- Git-based development workflow
- Strong problem‑solving and communication skills
Preferred Skills and Experience
- ASP.NET Core experience
- Advanced SQL performance tuning
- CI/CD (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions)
- PowerShell scripting
- Experience with modern auth (OIDC/SAML) and cloud/hybrid environments
Clearance Required
- Ability to obtain and maintain a suitability/Public Trust

Posted Pay Range
The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity. The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
Pay range: $160,000 - $185,000 Annually
