Responsibilities 

  • Planning and deployment of new network infrastructure equipment and associated monitoring and management systems.
  • Perform trouble-shooting support to diagnose and resolve network problems
  • Repair and upgrade of existing infrastructure equipment and associated monitoring and management systems.
  • Interfacing with engineering, customer service and customer field techs team, vendors and suppliers
  • Perform Crypto re-key and key management
  • Support and understand for IP technologies, including but not limited to: network connectivity, IP addressing (CIDR and VLSM), Routing Protocols (BGP, OSPF, HSRP, VRRP), VPNs, Load Balancing, and Q Running, terminating and testing of Ethernet, coax and fiber cabling
  • Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance
  • Maintain records/logs of repairs and fixes and maintenance schedule
  • Install and configure appropriate switch/router software and functions according to specifications
  • Develop and maintain local networks in ways that optimize performance
  • Terminates and installs copper and fiber optics cables to patch user workstations, patch panels, and cross-connects
  • Tests network cabling and connectivity to the desktop using OTDR, tone generator, and wire mapping tools
  • Mounts network devices and applies grounding requirements
  • Adheres to quality control and safety guidelines
  • Routes cables through trays in ceilings and floors (must be able to climb and crawl)
  • Removes excess cables from previous installations maintaining cable management
  • Configures Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switches and routers for new deployments and replacements
  • Configures dynamic routing with IS-IS, OSPF, and BGP
  • Implements network segmentation and virtualization with VRFs, VLANs, and VPCs
  • Updates and maintains network documentation and diagrams including IP addresses, ports, protocols, services, physical device placement, and logical data flow
  • Reviews network logs for anomalies and configuration errors
  • Designs new networks and develops technical solutions for execution
  • Manages and monitors network devices with SolarWinds, Cisco ISE, and other automation tools
  • Demonstrated knowledge of networking concepts, the OSI model, and TCP/IP applications
  • Performs configuration management and backups
  • Configures Cisco, Palo Alto, and pfSense firewalls and applies latest security practices
  • Assists and trains end-users with various network issues
  • Assists and trains co-workers in daily duty functions
  • Responds to service calls and provides customer support for network issues
  • Updates daily tickets and long-term projects on appropriate tracking systems
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment to resolve issues and meet deadlines

Qualifications

  • High School with 6 – 9 years (or commensurate experience)
  • TS SCI clearance
