The ideal candidate will be a senior Enterprise Security Architect with a thorough understanding of Security Architecture and the role it plays in a large federal enterprise and how it interacts with all other facets of IT Architecture that exists in an agency like USAID. The individual will be a Thought Leader in all aspects related to Security at USAID who provides guidance and oversight to a wide variety of teams in USAID on any topic related to Security.
Responsibilities
- Review technical architecture designs being produced by various teams across USAID from a Security perspective.
- Perform Analysis of Alternatives researching product and strategy options and presenting recommendations and analysis.
- Create and maintain Security related Reference Architectures.
- Create and maintain Security Standards.
- Work within USAID interdisciplinary teams (e.g. CISO, ISSOs, Information Assurance, Privacy teams) to ensure that organizational information exchange requirements are identified and met. Be an evangelist for promoting new ideas and concepts related to Security at USAID.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s with 15+ years (or commensurate experience)
- Be a seasoned Security Architect with federal and/or commercial experience (minimum of 7 years in this field). In this role that candidate should:
- Have a thorough understanding of Security Architecture and the role it plays in the enterprise and how it interacts with all facets of IT Architecture.
- Review and maintain USAID IT Security Architecture reference model.
- Have an understanding of Security Principles.
- Have an understanding of Security Management concepts.
- Be a Thought Leader in all aspects related to Security at USAID. The candidate should be able to conduct research, develop position papers, reports and presentations for briefings to a wide variety of teams on any topic related to Security.
- This can include (but is not limited to) emerging technologies, trends in Security, Security strategies, current and target states related to Security Architecture at USAID, existing USAID products.
- On a regular basis, be able to
- Review technical architecture designs being produced by various teams across USAID from a Security perspective.

- Have knowledge of TOGAF, FEAF
- Have awareness and knowledge of federal directives, FISMA, Certification & Accreditation (C&A) processes, System Assessment & Authorization (SA&A) processes, FEDRamp, Security-related NIST controls and standards
Desired Qualifications
- MA/MS and 13+ years’ experience
- CISSP certification
- TOGAF certification
- Knowledge and experience with Cloud Service Providers (AWS and Azure strongly preferred)
- Experience and understanding of International Development similar to the work undertaken by USAID.
