2024 GovCIO Gives Back: A Year of Impact
In 2024, GovCIO continued its commitment to giving back to the communities where we live and work. Our philanthropic efforts focused on building meaningful partnerships with non-profits, promoting charitable giving and encouraging employee volunteerism.
This year, we proudly supported organizations like the Alzheimer’s Association, Susan G. Komen, Boulder Crest Foundation, the NIH Children’s Inn, and World Central Kitchen, while also collaborating with local chambers of commerce, academic institutions, and government agencies to strengthen our communities. Through a variety of events, donations, and volunteer opportunities, we made a lasting impact and addressed key challenges facing society today.
GovCIO's Hurricane Relief Donation Program
In 2024, GovCIO proudly supported World Central Kitchen (WCK) as they delivered thousands of gallons of water and fresh food to communities in North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee following the devastation of Hurricane Helene. WCK also prepared to offer similar support to Florida after Hurricane Milton.
We chose to partner with WCK because of their hands-on approach, working side-by-side with local communities and support organizations to provide essential food and water relief. WCK’s commitment to transparency and efficiency is reflected in their 4-star rating from Charity Navigator and A+ rating from Charity Watch.
This initiative was part of our broader GovCIO Gives Back campaigns, providing multiple ways for employees to contribute to causes that matter to them. Whether supporting hurricane relief or other initiatives, every contribution made a significant impact.
"ChariTee" Campaign
GovCIO Gives Back
In addition to our direct charitable support, GovCIO launched a special initiative this year to further engage our employees in giving back. Over the past several months, we rolled out a new T-shirt design monthly, each featuring a unique theme tied to a meaningful cause. This apparel was available exclusively to our employees, with proceeds going directly to a selected charitable organization each month.
The best part? Employees also had the opportunity to get involved by participating in volunteer opportunities both in-person and virtually, allowing everyone to make a personal impact.
2024 Charities of Choice:
- September: Alzheimer’s Association for Alzheimer’s Awareness Month
- October: Susan G. Komen for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
- November: Boulder Crest Foundation for National Veterans and Military Families Month
- December: The Children’s Inn at the NIH for National Month of Charitable Giving
Alzheimer’s Association
In September, GovCIO proudly supported the Alzheimer’s Association during Alzheimer’s Awareness Month. As part of our commitment to this cause, #TeamGovCIO joined thousands of advocates at the National Mall for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Our team’s fundraising efforts, combined with the generous purchases of our exclusive T-shirts and donations from employees, enabled us to contribute toward the fight against Alzheimer’s.
The funds raised will support the Alzheimer’s Association’s mission to advance research, provide support to those affected, and raise awareness about this disease.
Together, we are helping to fund the fight against Alzheimer’s and bring hope to millions of families affected by the disease.
Susan G. Komen
In October, GovCIO proudly supported Susan G. Komen during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. To show our commitment to the fight against breast cancer, many of our employees participated in the virtual Walk Where You Are event. Dressed in their GovCIO pink tees, our team walked to raise awareness, honor survivors, and support those currently battling breast cancer.
The funds raised through this event, along with GovCIO pink T-shirt purchases and donations, are helping Susan G. Komen advance vital research, provide care to those in need, and support programs dedicated to breast cancer prevention and education.
Boulder Crest Foundation
In November, GovCIO proudly supported the Boulder Crest Foundation during National Veterans and Military Families Month. Our team raised funds through the purchase of exclusive GovCIO camo tees, with proceeds directly benefiting Boulder Crest’s mission to support military families and veterans.
Additionally, our employees contributed by donating to the Boulder Crest Foundation’s Amazon wish list, providing essential items to military families in need. These efforts will help Boulder Crest continue their vital work, offering programs that support the mental health and well-being of veterans and their loved ones.
The Children's Inn at NIH
In December, during National Month of Charitable Giving, GovCIO proudly supported The Children’s Inn at NIH, a nonprofit that provides residential services and a wide range of programs to children, teens, and young adults with rare and serious diseases whose best hope for diagnosis or treatment is an NIH clinical research study.
To show our support, we created and sold exclusive GovCIO holiday sweatshirts, with proceeds benefiting the Inn’s essential programs and services. Our team also volunteered for two special opportunities at The Children’s Inn: serving a Family Dinner to residents and their families, and creating Thoughtful Treasures care packages for the children, filled with items to bring comfort and joy during their stay.
