The National Institute of Health’s (NIH’s) mission is science in pursuit of fundamental knowledge about the nature and behavior of living systems and the application of that knowledge to extend healthy life and reduce the burdens of illness and disability.
CIT provides cost effective computer services, technical advice and collaboration in the computational sciences in support of the research and management programs of NIH. CIT operates and maintains the Enterprise Network that provides network services for more than 45,000 users in NIH, HHS, and other Government agencies.
This Program will provide timely, secure, and advanced CIT Network Services in support of the NIH mission and for CIT mandated, ever-evolving service demands and priorities.
The key high-level service goals of this program focus on enhancing IT customer service, expanding service capacity for industry-standard IT products, and improving efficiency through best practices. This includes adopting knowledge databases for better customer reporting, logging, tracking, and resolution of IT incidents and service requests, as well as proactively identifying and addressing root causes of technical incidents with specialized entities like NIH staff, vendors, or third parties before they become widespread issues.
