VA Partnership

Mission Aligned, Impact Driven

In November 2024, GovCIO was awarded the privilege to modernize the VA National Cemetery Administration’s Kiosk Gravesite Locator Software (KGLS), a direct extension of the trust we’ve built through six years of partnership with the VA.

This isn’t just a technology upgrade. It’s a commitment to making sure that when a family walks through the gates of a national cemetery, the tools they need to find their Veteran are modern, intuitive, accessible, and worthy of the occasion.

This Work Is Personal.

The team building the Kiosk Gravesite Locator Software isn’t just modernizing software. Many have visited national cemeteries to honor their own family members. That’s the standard we hold ourselves to.

Jim Brabston, CEO of GovCIO

“Leveraging our expertise in IT modernization, we’re honored to have supported VA’s vital work in modernizing their National Cemetery Kiosk Software. We’re proud to play a role in advancing VA’s mission with swift and effective IT infrastructure solutions.”

Modern Tools for Sacred Spaces.

GovCIO developed, enhanced, and maintains a comprehensive managed solution across all 115 kiosks, with every feature designed around one priority: the visitor experience.

PHASE ONE – Complete

  • Advanced Gravesite Search: Families can quickly search for and navigate to any interred Veteran by name, service branch, dates, or location — no more confusion in a place that calls for calm.
  • Interment Records Access: Detailed interment records and notable Veteran profiles are accessible directly from the kiosk, connecting visitors to the history of those they’ve come to honor.
  • Mobile App (Android & iOS): A new mobile app replicates full kiosk functionality so the experience extends to every visitor’s phone, before, during, and after their visit.
  • Veteran Legacy Memorial (VLM) Integration: Kiosks seamlessly link with VLM, bridging the digital memorial and the physical one, a unified experience for families who use both.

PHASE TWO – Coming early 2027

  • Accessibility Compliance: Modernization ensures full ADA and inclusive design compliance, so every visitor regardless of ability can access what they need.
  • Self-Guided Tours: Curated tours highlight notable Veterans interred at each cemetery, giving visitors a deeper connection to the history of the hallowed ground they’re walking.

One Mission, Two Platforms.

GovCIO is delivering a unified Veteran legacy solution across multiple platforms and touch points. KGLS doesn’t stand alone. It’s the physical complement to VLM , VA’s digital memorial platform, honoring 10 million+ Veterans launched through the support of the GovCIO team. Together, they form a complete ecosystem: families can find their Veteran online through VLM, then use modernized kiosks or the new mobile app to honor them in person.

This is what six years of trusted partnership with the VA looks like in practice, a collective GovCIO team that understands the mission deeply enough to extend it in new directions.
